I have a Thermaltake MK1 Chaser case, it has two 240 mm fans with LED's, the tip of the fan cable is a 3 prong, I had a new MB installed yesterday along with other CPU related hardware, basically a new PC now, the MB headers are 4 pin, guess what? The fans turn but no LED's lighting up, is this because I need that 3rd pin?

ASUS tech was not sure when I called them, if it is the problem do I need to buy a 3 pin to 4 pin adapter or 4 pin to 3 pin?

I need an 8 pin male molex to insert into the PSU unit, only have 4, 3 and 6

I have the Thermaltake 850 watt Bronze psu. Like I mentioned, the psu only has two 8 pin spots left to plug anything into and their female, I have no male psu cables to fit it.

With that TT 850w you should have 2x cables, each one has 3x 4pin molex on it. It should have been in the bag with all the other unused cables, like the FDD (floppy drive) that no one ever uses anymore. If the guy who installed the mobo didn't return the bag/cables, call him. Just make very sure if he does give you the extras, they are correct ones, other cables/brands will not be correct and will fry something.

He did the installation at my home, I have the little bag that came with the extra cables, none fit either the end where the fan control cables go into nor the tip that goes into the PSU which is an 8 pin female port

So SATA cables can be used as power cables?

Yep. Older IDE drives used molex for power, now that's switched to the psu Sata cables. If you really have no molex chains, you could convert by adapter from Sata to molex for the fans. That's different from the Sata3 on the motherboard, I'm talking about the same Sata that goes to your hdd/ssd.

I called Thermaltake today and they gave me a small amount of info about the fan problem. I was able to find a cable that plugged into psu a d to the fan controller cable.

Intake fan works fine including LED lights, top fan turns but no led lights, burned out I guess, will have to get a new one. Thank you for your help.
