CAT 6.4 Issues

Does anyone else experience problems with Cat 6.4 (win32)? I installed it this morning (uninstall 6.3->reboot->Safe mode->Driver Cleaner->Reboot->Install 6.4) and when the windows loading screen finishes, i get a 3 second corrupted screen after which it loads normally.

But, when playing Oblivion, my cards' fan makes more noise than usual, and this is evident because of the extra 8C I get. Then it proceeds to hang.

With CAT 6.4 I get 27FPS in Atitool - so I redid everything after uninstalling ATiTool (0.14 beta 25) and still the same symptoms.

The performance is better than 6.3, but it hangs and causes weird stuff. I reverted back to 6.3 and all is well now...

Any ideas?

Hmm, 6.4 is working fine for me...
I will benchmark it with 3D05 and 06 laterz.

I got a 100 score increase on 3DMark2006 with Cat 6.4 (link to score in sig) .... I have yet to find any problems with it....

I also got the corrupt screen - but when I rolled back to 6.3 I noticed that Oblivion still crashes. So I formated (freakin 1 hour story) and now I will see. MAYBE, I have a corrupt save game. Damn, that will be a pain, as I was a level 11 Dark Elf / Vampire / head honcho (Chuck) at the Dark Brotherwood etc etc....

O yes, I dunno what FSAA I was running previously before all my shyte started, but with 6.3 and 6.4 I was using 4xaa. What level of FSAA along with HDr are you guys running?

Everything seems fine now - guess it was a Windows boo boo, as I have no crashes/hangs in Oblivion.

I am however using 6.3+Hot Fix above 6.4, the performance increase is marginal and temps went up by 10C (on 6.4). Weird indeed....

afaik the chuck patch is the only way you can run hdr w/ AA in oblivion. cat6.4 does not have that functionality yet so if you were trying to still run AA w/ hdr that may have been your issue. ATI has yet to say when we will get chuck in a formal driver rev.

for running oblivion your best bet is to stay w/ chuck until he finda a home in cat. 😉

I heard old Chuck's web site has no hits... NO ONE hits Chuck's web site... :lol:

I think ATi will have a full driver supportive of Oblivion after their 1st patch.

I didnt upgrade to the new version becouse I too am using the Chuck patch version I hope they use his patch in the next version it works well for Oblivion.

I wish I could help you, but you wanna know the neat things, the MOBILE version is now bundled with CP not CCC !!!!!! 8O
