[SOLVED] Cat5e wall plate question

Hi,
Please excuse my ignorance. I'm very new to cat5e cabling.
My router is downstairs and I'm sending three cables upstairs to three bedrooms. My plan is to use surface plates in the bedrooms and a three gang plate near the router. Then run a short fly lead from the router to the wall plate.
My question is, Do I just wire it up as per instructed on the wall plate diagrams?
It might sound like a silly question but somebody mentioned that I needed to reverse the colours.
Thanks for your help. And if possible please treat me like the complete novice I am.

Yep, straight through (both wall plates the same). 568B color code. Get good quality cable. You want solid copper, 22 - 24 gauge. Cat4e, Cat6, Cat6a. Any will work. Get an inexpensive tester like this -- https://www.amazon.com/Klein-VDV526-052-Scout-Junior-Tester/dp/B004CI9NRM Verify all 8 wires and that you follow the 568B color code. Minimize the amount of wire you untwist. Watch some youtube videos on "keystone jacks"
