I am replacing my router with a new TPLink Wireless-ac router. My current network consists of CAT6 cabling but I was wondering if there is any benefit to running a Cat7 cable over a CAT6 cable from my cable modem to my new router?

Solution
And considering CAT6 cable is sufficient for runs under 50M on 10GBASE-T (and 6A to 100M), I would not consider CAT7 at all. Most likely CAT5 or CAT5e is more than sufficient, certainly for a simple gigabit network.

Zero performance difference.

An analogy:

Currently, you have garden hoses on each end (router and modem), with a medium size firehose in the middle (Cat6).

Changing to Cat 7 is simply putting a slightly larger firehose in the middle.
You are still pumping garden hose volume from and to the end points.
