So, 10.4 helps BBC2, but... Does it seriously do nothing else? I haven't heard any updates on that. As much of an AMD fan as I am, I'd be very disappointed if all they did in a month was optimize a single game, as popular as it is...

funny how BFBC2 is the only game I've been playing these days and its the only game being fixed. good job on guessing what games I play ATI!

haha load times, who cares. I would rather wait twice as long for the map to load if that meant it would run smoother.

This is just perfect for me, I thought my 185 dollar cpu+gpu was the problem, but WOW load times are half or a third the time they were previously. Hopefully more optimizations come along too, but I am quite happy with this for now.

Except it won't.

Yea, my game has random slowdowns with the hotfix but does load in around 10sec. 10.3 ran better so heres hoping the official release will run smooth and fast.

this is disappointing, i mean great a game loads faster, but what about all the daily issues with the 2d stuff, that everyone experiences... all they care about is how fast a game loads? that takes a month to fix? looks like someone was on vacation...

This hotfix didn't seem to help me. I went from 9800GTX+ to a 4890 1GB OC and performance didn't increase 1 bit...which is crap.

cleaned nvidia drivers, reinstalled BFBC2, reinstalled drivers and no difference.

After installing 10.4a, I start to experience the flickering problem which never happened on 10.3. Hope ATI fixes this.

EDIT: I fixed the problem by installing the ATI CrossFireX Application Profile. It loads fast and runs great now =D

DX10, DX10.1 and DX11 cards have Compute Shaders.
They are very useful because it uses your video card for calculations.
I tested this using Direct Compute Benchmark with a 8800GTS and it was almost 15 times faster than my dual core AMD @ 3Ghz.
If only more games used it. It would make quad-cores useless.

I am disappointed in ATI for not enabling it...

Ok long load times are annoying but im not gonna risk the stability i have with the 10.3,ill pass and wait for 10.4 release.

Would hurt you that bad just to try out the driver and If it doesn't work out for you just switch back to the previous??

maybe you should do more research. read toms graphics-card hierarchy chart and you'll notice that the 4890 is only one tier above the 9800 GTX+. the difference in FPS you would see would be small or difficult to notice w/o benchmarks.

where is the 2d support that they were supposed to have been working on?
anyone else remember that?

I'm suddenly quite glad I didn't get anything of the ATI 5k (5xxx) series as of yet considering what everyone's saying about 2D apps and such D:

I actually agree with xizel...I'd rather go up to 10.4 when its the official release. But then again, I'm not playing BFBC2 so there isn't much use to me getting the beta anyway. But that's exactly what it is.. a BETA. Vote me down if you must, its just my opinion :)

Ugghh come on ATI fix the GSOD issue first even if it means leaving those who play this one game waiting I much rather be able to have every thing else work properly. =/ At least my x1900xt and 3870 have no issues.

This is not accurate, the 4890 performs better than the GTX 260 in most cases and in a few limited cases on par with the GTX 285. So 9800 GTX+? The performance level should be fairly higher, certainly noticeable.

To the guy with the issue, check the settings within CCC, by default it might have the AA filter or level too high for instance, or vsync is forced on (in which case you could be topping out if you are measuring via 'fps', etc).
