Hello,
what is in bonehead terms the catalyst control center and what happens when it stops working and how do i get it to work again without having to go to harvard

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! YOU WERE A PROBLEM SOLVER!!! NOW I WILL GO FIX THIS PROBLEM ON MY LAPTOP TOO!!!

This worked for me,,ty :) I updated Microsoft stuff & right after everything was updated I had this problem but Vitorokgo's solution worked for me.

I just had the same issue. It's because the folder is "empty" and it's set to hide empty folders. Type the file path c:\users (I think I got an error message that said "folder is empty"!) - ignore. Go to Tools, Folder Options, View (tab), Under files and folders there's a sub-folder "Hidden Files and Folders" click "Show hidden files, folders and drives" -BAM!

I've been following the instructions for:
Simple instructions:
Navigate to c:\ and right click on the file marked "Users." Select "properties." Under the "General" tab, look at the bottom for the selection that says "Hidden." If there is not a check mark in the box, place a check mark there. Hit "apply", a pop-up window should come up, select "yes" to apply to all subdirectories. It might take a minute to make the change, so just give it a minute to finish.

After it finishes, right-click on the "Users" file again. This time remove the check mark and click "Ok" to apply to all sub-directories again. Once it has finished, your files in the "Users" directory should be good to go, and Catalyst Control Center should function normally again. Hopefully this works for you as well...[/quote

Hope that helped! Happy hunting!

THANKS it worked. Have windows 8 so there was not a Tools option but there was a Show Hidden folders tab at the top.Catalyst control is working too.

Just had this problem with my AMD Athlon II X2 270 today (Windows 8.1, 64bit OS) and the check/uncheck hidden in Users file properties trick worked great! Restarted computer and it was fixed, thank you so much! <3

For my situation, I've tried to hide/unhide the Users folder to no avail, so I give this one a shot. I couldn't find the repair option, but an idea came to me at that point (all thanks to your post - otherwise I wouldn't figure going to that directory) to run the installer in that folder. Worked afterwards.

So basically to those of you who still can't get CCC to open after a few options, go to C:\AMD\Support\ and run that .exe file - which will re-install everything. See if that helps.

when you hide your files you have to tell the folder to show hidden files within said folder, as soon as you do that try again..although it did not work for me..:) Catilyst stll doesn't open..so gonna try to reinstall latest version.

Hi I tried this, but I can't do the second bit as I now can't see the users file. Can you help.

Ok I got the same problem so i fix it so what i do i go and i fing anything on my computer named amd or ati everywhere and delete it then restar computer to see if somting show if not go to your driver setup go ahead and run as administrator instal driver restart computer and your done.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

I was playing around with my Users folder. But I didn't know what the hell I was doing. I checked "Hidden" and "Read-only" to try to see more folders. I did a bunch of other stuff. Then my CCC is crashing and even worse, my precious Premiere won't start at all!!!!!!! I was just trying to fix this for hours, I had no idea I did anything important to the Users folder.

FYI in case anyone ever sees this, I separately unchecked "read-only" files, applied, waited, then went back to return it to the blue box, applied. Not sure if this made a difference, but maybe try if you are having problems still AFTER following Aquanaut instructions.

THANK YOU AGAIN AQUANAUT FROM THOMAS IN NEW JERSEY, I OWE YOU ONE AND PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU COULD USE HELP WITH ANYTHING :) :) :) :) :) THANK YOU AGAIN.

It worked! I had the same problem--CCC has stopped working. Set all the files/subdirectories to hidden in "Users" and then cleared them all again and CCC is happy again. Thanks for sharing this.
