I have a dilemma on my recent build of:
MSI Motherboard x299 M7 ACK
Intel 7980XE
The issue is that I have to clear the CMOS and reset the bios to get the system to post each time. Once I do that the entire system works perfectly. What I need to do (i believe) is update the bios on the MB so there is better compatibility with the 7980XE.
I thought this would be simple. However, the new MSI update bios method requires a reboot to the USB flash drive. This isn't actually even in their documentation on updating the bios...its new, and its dumb. If the MB updated the bios the same way it did in years past I wouldn't have this problem.
The catch-22 is since I have to reboot to update the bios, I can't post without a clear CMOS/BIOS reset in-between, I am stuck in a loop.
I was looking at ways to update the bios in windows (since the system does boot fine after the clearing of CMOS) but there are many warnings about trying this method with an MSI motherboard for some reason.
