Caviar Blue Installation

Well, I just finished my second ever computer build, and everything went like a dream except for one little problem. I'm running a 500 GB Western Digital Caviar Blue HDD with my Corsair Force 3 SSD, but I can't seem to get the computer to recognize the HDD. When I start the computer if I touch the drive I can feel the plates spinning, so I know it has power. I've tried using different SATA ports (both SATA 2 and 3), but to no avail.

My system is running a ASRock Extreme6 Z77 motherboard, a seasonic X-650 power supply, and an intel i5-3570k cpu. Everything is working great except this HDD.

does the BIOS recognize the HDD?

Assuming the bios sees the drive, have you partitioned/formatted it in the drive manager?
