I decided not to put an optical drive in my new computer because I had to be as cheap as possible. However, there is a game I want but only available on cd. Can I put the disk in to an old HP Pavilion, and move it to a flash drive? If so, how?

Solution
Depending on the game, it may have some kind of security on it. Most games that require the disk do. However if the game doesn't need the disk to run then yes, you can move the files to a flash drive and run them from the folder.

Why not?

Stick it in the drive, and use ImgBurn to make a copy of it. Stick that on a USB and you can mount it using DaemonTools on the new PC. Keep in mind if it's protected by SECUROM it won't work, and you should observe the number of licenses you are entitled to.

Alternatively, you can pull the DVD drive from the old computer (pretty easy) and just hook it up temporarily to your new PC and let it lean on the table or something. I just use a USB adapter I bought for $7 on eBay.

You've got options.
