I put in the CD of files in my laptop and it makes wirring sounds and doesnt read the CD. Also if a CD ejects when putting it in whats that mean. What happened to the cds and files in them how do I restore it and what happened?

If it is the CD you may be able to try with another reader.

Honestly, CD's are not perfect and can fail like any other media. You may be able to use software to attempt recovery. Google comes up with some things to try.

It is best to always have more than one copy of anything you can not afford to loose.

Ejecting when closing the drive happens sometimes when you slide the tray you hit the button at the same time.

Hi,

I don't think he's said he tried more than one CD.

Try more than one CD. Perhaps try a DVD-Video (may need K-Lite Standard package for codec support). http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

So...
1) If all discs fail (try at least three, at least one CD and one DVD) then it's probably the drive itself

2) If some discs play then it's likely just bad discs (which in some cases may work with a different computer)

3) Options include replacing the unit internally if defective, or a USB method as mentioned. I don't recommend a SHOP since they'll likely charge you a lot to tell you what you should be able to discover from my above troubleshooting.

Internal Drive-> If needed then ask for help. The following is a quick example only and not guaranteed to work:

4) Cleaning CD/DVD: in some cases this works. The quick method is to run under water, soak some toilet paper and rub lightly from center to outside, center to outside... then shake off water and lightly use dry toilet paper from center to outside.

There are likely better options though avoid the "toothpaste" method since some have abrasives which can damage your disc.
