CD Rom troubleshooting

Had 2 computers. Both working except for one of them's CD rom. Rebuild the one motherboard onto the smaller case with the working CD rom. Now if connect Cd Rom to diffent hard drive. Computer dont start up. Gives reboot error message

make sure there's no disc left in the cd-rom and that the jumper on it it set to 'cable select'.
