We just got Audiovox CDM-8900 phones and need some help after our check of
the manual, calls to customer service and a call to Audiovox came up empty.

1. I know that when you push down and hold "!" it dials *86 (vmail). Is
there a way to edit this so it will dial *86-pause-my password-#? If so,
how?

2. Is there a way to change the banner on the outside display of the phone
so that it only shows the date/time without switching every 5 seconds to the
Verizon banner? If so, how?

3. With my old Nextel I was able to push a button and incoming calls that I
could not take would be sent directly to vmail. Is it possible to do this
with the 8900? If so, how?

Thanks for any and all help!

I had the same phone when I ported my number to Verizon a month ago. I
didn't like it. The keys are flat and are right next to each other.
Whoever designed this phone should be jailed. "Handsfree" is very
cumbersome, weird. Date/time display always flip-flops with the Verizon
banner on the outside window - I didn't like it at all!

I exchanged it with LG VX4500.

Thanks. Unfortunately the LG VX4500 will not work for us, we need
tri-mode (AMPS) capability.

I too, needed a trimode but at that time, only the CDM8900 was available
with the Mobile Office Kit. I got that but I didn't like the logical
implementation of its features. Handsfree was not really handsfree, the
keys - oh awful. I'm stuck with the VX4500 with no signal in the boonies or
in areas where only analog signal is available.

Good luck.

1. I think you mean push and hold "1", right? From what I've read, you can't
change this. You have to create a speed dial 2 (or another #), or create a
voice dial, which is what I use (Menu-8-2-1).
2. See http://www.earthuser.com/8900/
3. When the 8900 rings, the right soft key becomes "Ignore". Press it and
the caller rolls to vm. It also works when you're on the phone and another
call comes in.
