CDR Drive Opening Times!?!

Is it just me or has benchmarking been taken way too far when you are recording tray opening times? (See the Yamaha CRW2200E review) When was the last time you sat there and though "hmmm... My CD tray is opening too slowly I should get a new one or maybe replace that slow motor with a 454... yeah octane is the only solution." I can just see the headlines "Overclocker killed by high speed CD tray"

'We thought he was just eccentric when he said he wanted to overclock the toaster...Why didnt we see the warning signs until it was too late'

Some people need that extra little speed to quickly take out and hide that illegal copy of porn before mom comes in.

Maybe people want a slow opener, so that they can see it still spinnin and still have time to duck before the disk is flung at them at a few thousand RPMs, cutting their head cleanly from their body.

Disk brakes? Dammit, I knew I forgot something when I drew up the blueprints for my CD-ROM.

Gotta go make a phone call, be right back.

hahahahahaha

i remember my old parallel zip drive (100mb)
i had it sitting atop my old minitower which itself sits on the desk beside my monitor.
that evil bastard of a drive ejected the media so damn fast the zipdisk once came out, skiped on the top edge of the case and smacked me on the noggin as i reached accross to get something. :) :) :)

the number of times it ejected a zipdisk on a ballistic trajectory to the floor i couldnt count. damn lucky the 100meg disks were robust!

Well the slow CD tray would be useful if you were at work ... it would just take up that much more of that crapy eight hour day!

Nice post's .. it was pretty funny to say the least!

<font color=red>"Can you deal with that!"</font color=red>
