Cdrom bad block

When trying to download anything on a blank cd disc, my computer will not recognize that a blank cd has been inserted and it ask me to insert a blank cd.
In checking into this problem I received a message that CD-Rom has a bad block.
Can this be fixed or do I need to install a new CD, DVD-Rom?

Do you actually have a CD burner? What's your CD/DVD model?
If you do have a burner, have you tried different brands of blank CDs?
Did this ever work?
Did you do anything between it working and not?

Yes I have a CD burner and have used it for many years to download music to make cds for my vehicle and I put my pictures onto CDs. But last time I went to download pictures I would always get the message to insert a blank cd when I was trying to burn one and I already had a blank cd in.
I didn't do anything different.

Try a different blank disk, either from the same package or a different brand.
