CDROM not autoruning

I have installed a new CD-RW and DVD onto a clients PC(also new) Everthing seemed to be working fine under winME. The client installed all his software applications and the next morning neither of the drives would autorun?? I have checked the autorun boxes in control>system>device manager but to no avail.. Can someone help me??
