change a Mac address to activate a modem

can you change a mac address on a techicolor brand(Xfinity) modem that could not be activated.Told me it was listed as lost or stolen but there are many on eBay its a XB6-T8

If the provider tells you that it's listed as lost/stolen and won't activate it then you have your answer. There are "many" on EBay precisely because they are stolen.
