Is it possible to change my modem codecs (ITU-T G.711, ITU-T G.729)

If so, is there a way to change them by my own?
Or do I have to contact my Internet provider?

Thanks in advance

I did not find much interest in the manual so I don't think you can set anything. You might as the ISP if they can set it to 711 that is your best bet since it is the largest bandwidth codec there is and is what is used between telcos before VoIP existed.
Generally those are negotiated by the sip setup. Pretty much 711 and 729 are the 2 most common ones used for VoIP anyway. The provider of the sip service in effect controls it. They can tell your box which to use during the call setup.

Are you trying to force it to use one of those or did you want to use something different.

Hmmm yeah I want to force it to use one. It's kinda hard to explain but I'm gonna try it.

There's a transition from analogue phone lines to optical fiber in my city. I work with alarm systems, which transmit the information via phone line. I have been informed that with optical fiber my systems won't communicate anymore, so in the mean time I will have to buy new communicators. But I already have a few old installations working with optical fiber without a problem.

I'm not really sure but I'm assuming they work fine because of the analogue converter in the modem and the codecs.

So my question is: In case that my Internet/phone provider change the codecs in the near future and my systems stop working, can I change these codecs back? Or can I use one different that works for me
