Hi,

If the user is changed from roaming profile to local profile( my computer properties advanced user profile local profile),will the centralprofile value in the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S - Number (SID number is unique for every user)\CentralProfile remains same as profile path????

No, it will be blank,,, read on...

Look under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-xxxx and the CentralProfile value is where the profile is copied to/from. If blank it is a local profile. ProfileImagePath is the local address for both types of profiles.

once i change to roaming that profile path will be the central profile value as u said.

But if i again switch it back to local user from my computer\ properties\ advanced\ user profole to local will the central profile value change back to blank???

or it will maintain same profile path and acts as local user???

is the behaviour different in win 7 or vista other than the .v2 extension??

Back to blank? If Windows did any decent housekeeping it would go back to blank.. It probably stays there, abandoned, and will get updated again if you return to roaming. Take 5 minutes and find out. Make restore point, go back to local, check.

Here is not a smart-alec answer, just the way it is with me:

Vista:    Don't know, don't care.
Win 7:    Don't know, don't care. (until I buy a Cray CX1-iWS)

Microsoft has good write-ups on this subject concerning profiles involving XP Vista and Win 7 in various scenarios.
