Hi,

I want to have suggestions on the up-gradation.

I have Dell T3400 workstation
core2dou 3ghz 6mb cache
2GB*3=6GB DDR2 800BUS
500GB WD Hard disk
Sony SUPERCOMBO
GPU=AMD Club3D HD7750 1GB DDR5 128BIT

So should i have to change my GPU to gtx650ti, gtx660ti, gtx750ti OR change my pc and buy some coreI Series motherboard(thinking to buy ASUS B85M-G LGA 1150 and a corei3 4th generation processor?

Hey there Yasir Shamim,

What do you need to use that computer for? What is your budget?
The GPUs that you mentioned would get bottlenecked from the older parts in that build.
If you plan on gaming with that build, I would recommend checking the i5 series (if you plan on getting an Intel CPU) or FX 4 and 6 series (if you would like to go with AMD). Also, I would suggest upgrading your memory to DDR3 or DDR4 (if your budget allows it) - possibly 2 sticks of 4GB for the dual channel. Possibly, you could check newer MOBOs and then think of a proper GPU to to everything off. Depending on your budget, you can throw in a SSD for faster load times.
I would check the WD drive with WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for any errors or bad sectors just in case ( you don't want to risk your data if the drive has issues). Here's a link: http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=810&lang=en . I would run both the quick and the extended tests.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask me any questions,

Hey Captain Thnx for the reply i was kinda busy past days that is why i am replying now

i am a gamer and want to use pc to play upcoming games smoothly on ultra graphics as u know that playing on ULTRA graphics feels awesome :)
i have 20-25k pakistani rupees.
and i checked the mobo ASUS that i mentioned above is of 9000 rupees and Intel Core i3-4150 Haswell Processor (3M Cache, 3.50 GHz) LGA1150 is of 13,300 rupees here is karachi. i will exchange my ddr2 rams with ddr3. thats my plan. i just have to buy motherboard casing and processor. i put my existing ROM and HDD on the new machine.

but my
my friend told me to change the GPU to gtx660Ti it will make a big difference in gaming performance with my current machine ( which i mentioned above ) rather than going to corei3 and ASUS motherboard with PCIx 3.0 slot. he also said pcx 3.0 wont make a difference in the performance as u r getting from the current mobo slot which is i think 2.0 or 1.1.

One question WHAT IS SSD and whats its purpose?

Hey again :),

It is true that the GPU is the most important part when it comes to gaming and the GTX 660 Ti is a great GPU and should boost your performance a lot. The problem would be if you have not enough or slow RAM or slow CPU that needs to process everything that the GPU produces. If you'd like you can go ahead and get the GTX 660 Ti and change the RAM to DDR3 and later on, you can swap the CPU and MOBO too.

Concerning the SSD, this is a Solid State Drive and stores information and data (just like a HDD). They are a newer technology that, instead of writing on a magnetic disk (like HDDs), SSDs store information on cells with electrical charges. They do not have any moving parts and work A LOT faster than HDDs. It's a fairly new and expensive technology and regular SSDs come with 120GB-250GB sizes (although there are others with much more space but are far more costly). They provide much MUCH faster loading time for your OS, games and programs and you can work with files a lot faster.
The downside is that, unlike HDDs, SSD's are more susceptible to electrical fluctuations and ESD and if any failure occurs, it is much harder to retrieve any data from it compared to HDDs (even for data recovery companies). Also SSDs have limited writing cycles and wear off eventually as their speed decreases (although it takes a long time before that happens in a regular household usage). they require 15%-20% free space for caching to work properly and with ultimate speed.
What people do is get a decent-sized SSD (120GB-250GB) for their OS, games and most frequently used programs and a separate HDD (1TB-2TB) for all the rest (data, media, less-used programs, etc.).
Here's a couple of interesting threads where you can find more info about SSDs:

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2099368/ssd-endurance-real-world-matter.html

Do have in mind that games rely on storage (HDD, SSD and others) only for the loading time and if there are in-game loading times or the game itself needs to load a huge texture file. They do not affect FPS or graphics in any way. What games are you planning on playing?

There are other types of drives such as SSHDs and Dual Drives. If you want some info on them - feel free to ask away :)

Feel free to ask me anything if you have questions :)

Yoaaa man i have decided to buy gtx660ti first then change my pc :)
and thats really a great info about SSD drives i ll have a check on it that is it available on the stores here or not and how much costly it is
you are right that loading time depends on HDD speed.

I want to play CALL OF DUTY ADVANCE WARFARE, BATMAN ARKHAM KNIGHT, RISE OF TOMB RAIDER, ASSASINS CREED UNITY, BATTLEFIELD 5 etc

no no this information you provided is enough for me 😀 many thanks...

You are most welcome! :)

Have fun with the gaming.

Cheers,

Hey Captain,

How are you doing?

I just upgraded from Dell T3400 C2Q 9650 to Gigabyte Z170 HD3 DDR4 mobo with corei3 6100 and 8gb Corsair DDR4 2133mhz using Gigabyte Nvidia GTX750Ti Black Edition 2GB on PCX 3.0.
