I know that a PC CPU can be changed, even though it's kind of advisable not to do so, given the workaround you'd have to do to make sure that the operating system didn't go wonky, but can you do that with a laptop? or are they permanently implanted in a laptop?

I've got an AMD E-350 cpu in my laptop with 4 GB of RAM, and i want to put in 8 (or mayyyybe even 16) GB of RAM into it, but i'm not certain how much the CPU will support, hence my thought of changing out the CPU, if that were possible.

HP 2000 is a series of dozens models, what is yours ? Anyway, based on the following link, a tipical HP 200 can have 8Gb of RAM:

There are few questions you need to answer:

1. What is the OS of your machine ? 32 bit OS can't address to anything more than 4Gb in this case.
2. What is the current configuration ? 2 x 2 or 4 x 1 because the machine has only 2 slots for RAM. From there you can work our the number you need.
