Does changing balanced power option to high performance will tear my CPU faster and rise up my electricity bill? i have an i5 4570s and a gtx 1060 3gb,
The reason why I want to always change the power to high performance is because it actually activates turbo boosting when it's set to high performance, the clock speeds rise up to 3.2ghz-3.5ghz even on idle, but when on balanced it only tops up to a maximum of 2.9ghz-3.2ghz even when i play games or run benchmarks. It sounds weird but i don't know why it does that, even though the maximum processor power management of the balanced and high performance is both set to 100% and the only difference is the minimum processor power management of the balanced profile which is 5%.
The extra 200-300mhz gives me more fps on my games especially CPU intensive ones. But I have heard if i always set the power options to high performance all the time, even on idle, will tear down my CPU faster and give a significant change to the electricity bill / power draw and have a significant rise in temperatures (although my temps didn't change).
If it does,
I am finding a way to just make the power plan to switch every time i launch a game so i won't always set the power to high performance.
