Changing from i5-2310 to i7-2600 CPU Questions

Hi, I have a Gigabyte G1 Sniper M3 rev 1.0 Mobo, and i'm wanting to change my CPU to a i7-2600 since i already have one.
I'm currently running F10f BIOS, is there anything else I need to update before I change them out?

I've tried changing it out once before, and I couldn't get the CPU to start. If I recall, it did like one beep, fans spin, then shut down.
Unsure if it'll do that again, I've tried clearing CMOS by removing the battery, and also by touching the jumper with a screwdriver, but still had no luck previously when installing.
About to try again, any tips / anything I need to know?

Also currently running Windows 10, if that makes a difference. The cpu was out of my old PC which was on Windows 7 if I recall.

Make sure that all cables are properly connected, especially the two power cables (the 24-pin and the 4/8-pin cables). Especially the 4/8 make sure it is in the right direction.

Your bios version is OK.
