Hello! Do I need to reinstall my OS if I'm going to change my i3-8100 to i7-8700k? I'm going to use the same m.board.

Solution
Nowadays, a Win 10 licence is associated with a Microsoft Account, not with a particular computer. So, you can swap out EVERYTHING, and still re-activate your windows (Provided you have set up a Microsoft Account). Personally, I like to re-install when I get a new motherboard, so that old apps and utilities that I installed (and have now forgotten about) are cleared away. Since you are just upgrading your CPU, there is no need for this. Everything will work just fine. (You do have a legal copy of Win 10, don't you ?)

Same motherboard, probably not.
OF course, with any major hardware change...be prepared if things go south.

The license is different than the install.

Yes, he can almost certainly transfer the license.
The actual install is a whole different consideration.

Having one of those work does not automagically mean the other works as well.

Yes, you are right .... upgrading without re-installing can create a mess, especially if the supporting chipset changes.
