I plan to finally upgrade to an SSD, and I'm wondering what will happen when I use my new SSD as my boot drive and my current boot drive as storage.

Will I be able to get everything off of it that I need? Will any files be locked? I have tons of stuff that I want to keep but I don't know if I will lose access to my documents folder or something since it is user specific.

Thanks.

Generally speaking you should still have access to files but what i recommend is that you backup files to an external hdd then format old drive, that will make sure you have them and also make switching to ssd less of a problem.

I don't have another drive that is large enough for backing things up, thats why I wanted to get some things off of it before I format it.

I just wanted to make sure that nothing important will be missing.
