Hello,

I have an issue with my laptop charging. (ACER ASPIRE A515-55 series)

I currently have a charger that works with my laptop, but it's a quite broken ( see picture ). So I bought another charger which doesn't work, so I bought another one, which still doesn't work either...

Here are the steps I've already taken to identify the source of the problem:

*) Checked the soldering of the charging pin (See photo)

*) Tested different chargers, only the first one (non this original one, i changed it a year ago) works (although it needs to be tilted in a certain way, and the tip of the connector is slightly broken - see photo)

*) Tested the voltage at the pin output using a multimeter. There is voltage with the working charger, BUT there is also voltage with the chargers that don't work (See photos).
for working
for non-working

If you have any ideas on troubleshooting I could do to find the problem or any ideas on what might be wrong, it would be greatly appreciated.

PS: The battery is new.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

If I were you, I'd replace the adapter with a genuine part;
and replace the power input on the motherboard for the laptop. Only a matter of time before you short the board and buying a new laptop is more expensive than the adapter and connector combined.

Thank you for your answer. Really appreciated !

I don't really understand why I need to change the power input on the motherboard if it's working with a charger. ( In my mind if it's working with one charger this is not this part which is problematic. Maybe here is my mistake)
New chargers are genuine ones.

Hi , if you want to make troubleshooting it is necessary if you can find the schematic for your motherboard , usually near the battery is a MOSFET when you can check voltages , but in this case if the battery is new , you can disconnect battery and take out bios battery and press power buton for 10 sec or 15 just to drain all the curent out and then put in the bios battery, plug in battery and check again if still no charge you can try with an original charger and see if it work , if not you need schematic in order to check voltages.
