Hello everyone,

I'm searching for a "cheap" Intel CPU, that still holds for today's gaming. I'm currently using a Q8200. Firstly, I wanted a G4560, but the BIOS with the mobo stuff bothers me a lot, so, I wanted something cheap, so I wanted a Q/QX9650 and Oc it to a higher frequency, but I'm scared of losing the CPU, because I'm a noob at OCing. Next, I saw an i5 2400, seems kinda nice, not too expensive, but it's from 2011...

Can someone tell me a still good running CPU, not more than 75$. Thanks in advance!

You don't have to worry about BIOS compatibility with the G4560 if you go with a B250 motherboard. You will need DDR4 RAM also.

Anything other than a Core 2 Quad would require a new motherboard. If you want to play today's games any better than your Q8200, you will want a new motherboard and new CPU.

What is your total budget?
What GPU will you be using?

Thanks for the reply.

Ikr for the B250, but I aimed for an H110M-K.

Total budget (only for CPU, mobo, ram) is 180$. Currently using an HD6870, in few months planning to get a GTX760.

Cost of finding a 2nd/3rd gen OC cpu plus board will be the same as a modern platform so no reason to "upgrade' to 5 year old tech.

For the G4560 you just need to get a b250 motherboard and you will be set, the bios compatibility issues is due to people getting the h110 boards.

The g4560 is the cheapest cpu you can get that can game.

FYI, no matter what since you are running a Q8200 with ddr2 memory you are going to need CPU, new motherboard and new memory.

AMD has released their 7th-gen Athlon X4 950, that and the A12-9800 code named Bristol Ridge. Both can be used in a B350 or A320 motherboard. Something to consider.
