I am about to buy an i7 2600k, but still need a mobo that supports its overclocking abilitys...
I am buying used from www.tweakers.net, and please dont send newegg links...

I have found two that are extremely cheap (35 euro):

  • an ASUS P8H61 PLUS
    and a H61H2-MV (V1.0)
I am not sure if either is good... My needs are one PCI-e 2.0 16x slot, and usb 3.0 (or a pci-e 1x slot, where I put a usb 3.0 card in) And it needs to support overclocking on an i7-2600k (LGA1155)

If just gaming I would go with a modern locked i5. It cant be much difference in price and will be just as good if not better than an oc'd 2600k

Do forget to oc a 2600k will need a decent cooler, a modern i5 is perfectly fine on a stock cooler which again saves money

To overclock the 2600k you need a board with a z77 or z68 chipset. The h61 boards do not support ovetclocking. These boards have been out of production for awhile and are getting harder to find. If you want a reccomendation (without a newegg link) we need to know what country you're in.

No, I have my reasons for choosing the i7, and I would not be happy with an i5 (I know that for gaming it is better)
The question was about a good mobo, not cpu

I live in the Netherlands, the site i gave (tweakers.net) is one of the only online second hand shops I trust... For new products I recommend using bol.com, they give good price comparisons and is run by a great engine

What about a z77 extreme4 by asrock? It seems to have better specs and I can get one for 25 euro cheaper...
