I am building a new Desktop to replace my aging one. I don't game, however I run FSX flight sim. Please check out my planned build and advise me:
Fractual Design R4 Mid Case
Intel Core i5-4690K CPU
Asus Z97-A-ATX DDR3 Mo Board
eVGA GeForce 960 SC GPU
Corsair Vengence 8GB DDR3 Ram
Corsair Hi00i Cooling
Hatachi DeskStar 3.5 TB HardDrive
W.D. Velociraptor 500 MB Hardrive (for FSX)
EVGA SuperNova 1000 W Power supply
Lite-On LightScribe 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Optical

Do plan on overclocking your processor? If not, drop the "k" processor, the "z" mobo and the h100i cooler. Also, why the Velociraptor HDD? If you are worried about loading speed for one game, get an 64GB SSD. It will be cheaper and way faster.

EVGA SuperNova 1000 W Power supply is quite nice, but OVERKILL unless you plan to upgrade to a SLI or heavy graphics card later.

Also: eVGA GeForce 960 SC GPU

I would wait just a tad, announced recently that 960 cards will have 4GB of video memory, might want to wait for that, for a few more dollars and double your video memory.

Nothing wrong with any of it really, if you want a K series then get a K series. Never drop a liquid cooler if you have the money, run your parts cool :)

The GPU is factory overclocked and I might get into OCing the CPU later. The Velociraptor is for running FSX but I need more than 64 GB. I cant afford an SSD with enough space. I am using the H100i cooler because I need 120 mm fans with this case. Thanks

I may overclock some and I may get into gaming a little more. I am running around $13,00.00 right now which includes a splitter so that I can hook up to my 32' LED TV. (I hope). I am strongly reconsidering getting a SSD drive instead of the Velociraptor. An SSD does not prove to be cheaper and my FSX has run outstandingly fast on the Velciraptor for seven years. (The seven years is one reason for the system upgrade as most of my components are seven to eight years old). That is why I can't wait much longer as I feel that I am runing on borrowed time. Thanks for all of the good advice and info. It is well taken.
