Comrade Premier Colin Barnett plans to break Western Australia from the Commonwealth and implement communist rule from the DPRK.

COLIN Barnett says relations between Western Australia and the Gillard government are at a low point, and the Premier has begun forging closer links with Beijing rather than Canberra as economic power shifts to the resource-rich state.

Having already sold half of the State to the Chinese Barnett now plans to open the doors and let his communist brothers come in and take the rest.

This is completely at odds with Liberal Party ideology ??

Wait ... privitisation doesn't mean selling the state assets to a foreign governement??

Thats treason !!

Nope, thats socialistic behavior, where even the Ozzies may have heard "how many starving people in China" before?
So, of course, its only right to redistribute wealth
Following in Obamas footsteps, good show!

When our leaders are removed from what we find as everyday life:needs, desires, ambitions etc, they tend to have no concepts of these things, ala let them eat cake.
When we try to do our daily business/living, if theyre removed from the intracacies of such things, it leaves only other directions for us to follow.
Pennsylvania was the last state of the original 13 to make sure their elected leaders jobs was only a small part of their lives, and they used to be required to have other incomes/livelyhoods
This makes for greater understanding amongst the peoples, by living amongst and doing business with them.
In the last few democratic national conventions, only a handful of all the electorate had had real jobs or businesses.
In this climate, it can become a "us vs them" mentality, which ironically the dems have championed, pointing out such things as to successful businessmen whove "lost touch" with plain folk, and this hypocrosy rules all the way to the top, where we see Obama never having a job, and the media ridiculing Gearge W for having run the Rangers baseball team etc.
These elite want socialism, as it benefits them most, and has little time for business, who puts money in our pockets, the businessmans pockets, but most of all, the leaders/governments pockets

Actually .... No.

It's the pinnacle of global free-market capitalism. The best analogy in the USA would be timber clear-cutting and coal mining in Appalachia. 'Outsiders' remove the natural resources and profit from them without investing the generated capital locally. The capital 'flees' the area along with the resources.

History repeats itself. The more things change the more they remain the same -- so it is best to be skeptical and a bit of a cynic.

WA seems to be doing quite well as an economic engine in mining, agriculture and petroleum, and is trying to diversify their economy, but suffers from a lack of skilled labor and a small manufacturing base. Their economy is primarily based upon exporting their natural resources.

Reynod can correct my thinking but it looks as if this is the latest chapter of an on-going rift between WA (Barnett) and the Commonwealth -- in the making for decades. And I think Reynod might be f'ing with you guys because Barnett looks to be the antithesis of a Commie-Pinko-Socialist-Liberal Pot-Smoking Pig ... more like a Wing Nut anti-gay police state corporatist-fascist secessionist Con.

Since when is business a bad thing?
Since when is putting people to work a bad thing?
Since when raising your standard of living a bad thing?

If no one helps/acknowledges your needs, then you go elsewheres. Why? Because you can.
If know one cares for business, go to those that want to do business.
My point is, its best kept closer at home, just like wc said, where the locals get a decent return.
If the greater government cant find a way to at least help, let alone listen, then surely its up to the local government, who surely is going to help their constituents out first.
I posted this earlier:

What I find intriguing about this is, its calling governments bluff all over the world.
Some governements official position is, we cant drill our way out.
Selling precious commodities, it seems to me, would be in the best interest of the greater gov of any country, and not to be ignored.

Yes your spot on ... but I am not messing with you.

But getting that far into bed with the people who ran down university student in tanks and then made a few thousand dissidents dissappear simply because they wanted a democracy as opposed to talking with a meeting one of the gentlest and wisest people on the planet ... ??

Do you see a problem with that on an ethical and moral front?

Our fearless leader sold his soul ... for a few billion bucks.

That kind of political pandering makes me puke.

I most certainly do, and find it abhorrent!

The US is even more guilty and hypocritical. We embrace China as an economic partner, mumble quietly at their human rights violations, and generally turn a blind eye to their 'crap' ... while maintaining a 50-year embargo on Cuba.

As far as the 'messing' I was simply laughing at the response of "following in Obama's footsteps" to your use of *Comrade* Barnett.

I don't believe one could find more polar opposites - 'invented' or otherwise

edit: I fergit.

The last US President to actually stand up to China was Bubba --- when he floated two carrier groups between them and Taiwan. I'm not a big believer in 'gun-boat diplomacy' but sometime it is quite apparent that such gestures are necessary to make a point with China.

No worries or confusion in translation, there [:jaydeejohn:5]

I'd like a tour on one of those carriers ... our ships are more like economy class ferries and tugboats.

Until we get the new AWD's we have a fleet of moving targets and ageing rustbuckets.

Our subs whilst very quiet evidently leak like sieves and can't see most of the time let alone shoot at anything unless they are on the surface.

If the hordes come over the dunes we are relying on the snakes and spiders to cull them to a manageable level until we can finish them off with free beer.

Our methods are fear and surprise ... yes ... boo !! Have a coldy mate !!

You should provide for an OzzieLand invasion -- of one (well, two, if I can bring my 'attack' yellow dog - he has quite a formidable lick).

And I'm only invading for the beer, as I enjoy Fosters Ale, and suspect you wankers of holding back the really good stuff for yourselves.

Admit two free invasion passes to wisecraker.

Please board the next Quantas flight and the secret password is "Kevin08frackmebluey".

Warning ... do not drink Southwark beer ... it is for the locals only ... made from straining NSU infected urine through 4 day old socks and heating over an oil fire then squeezing the slime into bottles which are stored in old uranium tailings.

:)
