Considering the huge profit some of TSMC's customers, such as Apple, are making, and despite current conditions, this was inevitable. Let's see just how quickly Apple passes this increase onto their customers, and will Samsung prevent this, or follow suit 'in sympathy' lol.

Yup, agreed. Everybody loves the Fed printing more money until the bill comes due and a gallon of gas is pushing double digits.

Apple won't hesitate to pass on the price increases, people will line up to be the first to pay it too.

Considering the sluggish sales of the Galaxy S21 series though, combined with the expected limited market availability of the Galaxy S21 FE (and expected removal of the MicroSD slot), Samsung's going to have to do something with their next series to get people to upgrade, which isn't helped by the fact that, as 5G devices, they have their own set of drawbacks compared to the non-5G predecessors. Raising prices on the A series isn't the answer, at least not until they can make them decent rivals to the Pixel a series and other lower cost devices when the new generation Exynos SoC's release, and raising prices on the S series would only lead more people to hang on to their older, still very viable and capable devices instead...

It's interesting how the older nodes are seeing the largest price hikes in terms of % increases.

There seems to be a linear relation between older nodes and larger % price increases.

Almost as if they're consuming more raw materials during the manufacutring process.

Had not though of wafer price but if wafer supply was the problem then it make sense to raise the price on them more.

Yes it’s all bull crap. And if Microsoft ever wants to make any money off of games Then they had better start producing the series X in mass quantities and making sure that individuals can actually buy them

i dont think phone maker will increase more price of their device. especially middle to low.

probably it just will slowed the selling them down if they increase the price.
we will see similar chip got re released on newer phone for next 3 years since they will not sold well like past 2 years.
second hand will thrive and might get increase on the price

for the pc it will slow the cycle to upgrade pc even more. i think it was 2 years cycle and then becoming 3-4 years cycle and maybe it will become 5-6 years cycle.

what is amazing is i have a entry level laptop almost 10 years old still thrive for work right by just upgrade the disk to SSD SATA. while before 5 years old hardware is already slow as hell maybe next 20 years pc/ laptop still got the power
