Hey guys.

i am at a loss

every time i install the Intel Chip-set driver it freezes the computer and the installation fails
i have tried doing it last but then it got stuck on the USB 3.0 driver all other drivers work just fine

fresh windows new build. i have reinstalled windows a lot and have tried drivers from Intel's website still same problem

i have a Z170 asus gaming mobo and a 6700k cpu just got both today

please help

Go here and directly download and install the USB 3.0 Driver. Just by itself no chipset.

Make sure you:

a) update the motherboard BIOS, and

b) set BIOS to use "XMP" (but do not overclock yet)

c) test memory for a full pass with Memtest86 ( memtest86.com )

d) run CPU diagnostic https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool

Other:
- add drivers or software only as needed
- consider creating a RESTORE POINT prior to any driver or software change (so you can easily roll back if something screws up)
