Ok, I have 2 PSUs:

be quiet! Pure Power L8 500W 80+ Bronze

or

be quiet! System Power 7 500W 80+ Silver

The SP7 is manufactured by FPS and has a total of 480W on the V12

The L8 is manufactured by HEC and has a total of 456W

Found only 1 french review on the SP7. Not really informative. Found many on the L8. Good reviews.

Anyone have any info as to tip the decision to one unit?

I would prefer the silver rated one, but somewhere people were saying it gets noisier. But insufficient information on that.

Was considering an XFX Pro550W but I saw reviews of that unit pointing it goes to 50 Db at 10 cm. And my computer is literally 30 cm away from me, next to the monitor.

My Xilence has served well, but age takes its tool and now the coilwhine (or maybe a capacitor) is driving me crazy.

P.S I don't care about any of the Haswell C6/C7. Not now, neither in the future.

Thank you for the reply.

Any input in the noise section? I am a freak when it comes to noise.

I am using this with the I7 2700k and an Asus GTX650TI - the dual fan version. All is cool and quiet except the whine. GPU fans keep at 10%. The Hyper Evo is at stage 1, the intake case fan needs new grease to get silent again. So I am barely touching the 50% capacity of either PSU.

Even on 100% GPU load the fans don't move up of 1200 rpm. They are more quiet then the front intake, from which I hear "wind" going inside the case or occasionally I hear the HDD.

On the side of things, what PSU are you using?

2 x TX650 Corsair, 1 x HCG400 Antec, 1 x ZS550 OCZ and 1 x VX550 Corsair. (covers the household) The Antec is in my server, CM N200 case with 2 fans, and since there is no GPU (IGP in use) I only hear slightly in the front fan when I get within 50cm of it.
