hello guys, so after 6 long years im finally going to build the beast PC, but im lost as to cases, my build is going to be this:
CPU: Intel - Core i9-9900K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor ($474.99 @ Walmart)
CPU Cooler: Noctua - NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler ($89.85 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI - MEG Z390 ACE ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($269.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($330.98 @ Newegg)
Storage: ADATA - XPG SX8200 960 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($184.49 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Samsung - 970 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($345.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital - Black 6 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($229.88 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: EVGA - GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11 GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING Video Card ($1399.99 @ B&H)
Power Supply: Thermaltake - Toughpower iRGB PLUS Platinum 1200 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($269.99 @ Amazon)
Optical Drive: Asus - DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($19.75 @ OutletPC)
Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit ($129.89 @ OutletPC)
Keyboard: Kingston - HyperX Alloy Elite Wired Gaming Keyboard
Mouse: Kingston - Pulsefire FPS Wired Optical Mouse ($34.99 @ Amazon)
Headphones: Kingston - HyperX Cloud II 7.1 Channel Headset ($86.00 @ Amazon)
UPS: APC - SUM1500RMXLI2U UPS ($351.76 @ Amazon)

i need something that fits all this and is large enough to be easily ventilated since i will keep air conditioning on most of the time to keep it cool, i might add a few more case fans(3-4 maybe?) just to keep the OC'ed ram(xmp), cpu, and gpu at cool temps. liquid cooling is out of the question because of a chance of a leak(even if its 0.01%). any input is appreciated, thanks.

You want an ATX case for starters, something with clearance for your cooler, fans and gpu. Also do you need that much storage for such a high price? Your 1tb ssd cost nearly twice as much as your 960gb ssd? You might as well get 2 of the 960gb ssd's. Maybe even get a 500gb ssd and a 960gb or 1tb instead of what you have here. I don't know what your using it for so maybe you do need over 7tb of storage. Your choice (I'd reccomend 3 or 4 at most for most people). Onto the case, I don't know your price range or colour preferences but I'll give some cases anyway.
For all my suggestions you can just copy and paste the name into a store of your choice.
As you seem to be going all out these one are good for that.

This one is way too expensive but whatever.
https://www.pccasegear.com/products/40474?utm_source=getprice&utm_medium=cpc Smart cooling (read the description of the case for more).
And a budgetish case
https://www.pccasegear.com/products/41871?utm_source=getprice&utm_medium=cpc Pretty minimalistic and clean case.

Ps. Beast build btw.

Hi iaskstuff :)

You state you are Overclocking your high end system and want to stay with Air cooling. OK that's your choice however realize that you will not obtain a decent 5.0-5.1GHz Overclock that a decent Core i9-9900K can achieve using an Air cooler. Good you have Air conditioning as that helps a lot when ambient temps go over or close to 30C.
The i9-9900K runs hot (even at stock) so you won't achieve MAX performance using an AIR Cooler and besides IMO they are weighty and ugly. Even a Noctua D15 will not cope under load for extended AAA game play.

I have built many systems with AIO Water cooling and although I had one failure, it was due to a failing pump which was replaced under Warranty.
Decent AIO manufacturers such as Corsair Warranty against leakage.

I recommend a Full Tower case for what you are doing however the manufacturer is your personal choice for looks and functionality.
I have a personal preference for Corsair Carbide Full Tower cases for Quality, ease of build access, functionality and will allow plenty of inlet and extraction fans.
Should you change your opinion about AIO Water Cooling, I would recommend a Corsair H115i or H150i to keep your system temperatures under control when under load.

Your going to have one top rig there :)

will both the SSDs and the HDD fit onto the motherboard with the 2080ti? iv was told that there will be 8PCIe lanes left for my VGA after i insert the SSDs and the HDD, any input on that?

From my understanding - there may be 8 Pcie brackets on your case but definitely not on your motheboard. On your motherboard you have 3, 1 for your gpu. Then your 2 m.2 ssds can go into 2 of the m.2 slots on your motherboard and your hdd can go into 1 of the sata slota on your motherboard. You might want to check if your m.2 slots being used will disable any of your sata slots( 1 m.2 slots being used disables 2 sata slots, (on most motherboards) check your motherboard manual to see which ones would be disabled).

Just to add to momowickets comments. Not sure it's in the manual.
  • If M2_1 slot is populated with a SATA drive, SATA3_2 is disabled and visa versa
  • If M2_2 slot is populated with a SATA drive, SATA3_5 is disabled and visa versa
  • If M2_3 slot is populated with a PCIe drive, SATA3_5 and SATA3_6 will be disabled and visa versa

so from what i understand 2 M2 NVMe ssds that run on pcie 3.0 x4 and an HDD(on the correct sata port) will work with a pcie 3.0 16x gpu without slowing eachother down? am i right?

On the case:
  1. Buy a case with the looks you love. It will be with you for a very long time.
  2. Pay attention to the fresh air intake capability. You have a hot processor and a strong graphics card that needs to be cooled.
Look for a case with 3 120m front intakes or two 140mm intakes.
If they are filtered, your parts will stay cleaner.
If you use 140mm intake fans, look for Noctua which have offerings up to 3000RPM.
3. I like air coolers, and NH-D15 is about the best. It requires 165mm of room in the case. The NH-D15s cools equally well and needs 160mm. It also clears tall ram like your trident ram. .
The fractal design mehisify C ticks all my requirements:

But, it does not allow for a DVD burner.
Another might be the Fractal design focus G

On your build, I have some thoughts:

1. I find your storage a bit strange. It is easier to manage a single large space vs. two devices. I might suggest using a single 2tb Samsung 970 EVO for a similar price
as your two drives.
The value of the PRO versions of Samsung ssd devices is increased endurance.
That is absolutely of no concern in a desktop environment.

2. I imagine that the 6tb HDD is for bulk storage.
You might find the differences among the various WD offerings interesting:
Then, consider adding a Intel optane device as a cache for your large HDD.

3. FWIW, I use a APC 1500 which shows some 15 minutes run time under load.
Sufficient for a graceful shut down. It includes monitor and modem power.

thanks for all the tips on the case, ill probably get the Fractal Design Meshify C since it looks awesome and has all the requirements, the dvd burner wasn't a complete necessity but would've been nice, however what is confusing me insanely is that PCIe stuff, according to what i read even with 1 SSD ill be running the lanes as 8/8/0 which will decrease my GPU speed about 10% from x16 PCIe, and with 2 SSDs itll be 8/4/4 which does not affect SSD speeds as they run great on PCIe 3.0 x4, is there a mobo that can accomodate the 2ssds without sacrificing the GPU? i mean alot of gamers out there have ssds and i dont think they are destroying GPU speeds for the ssd.. thanks for any input
