Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/XYssZ8
I am still deciding between TN and IPS. I want to say that I will be getting the Saphire RX 480 Nitro, but will compare the benchmarks to the 1060 when they both release. My budget is ~$250-300.

Here are a couple of models I have considered:
TN: BenQ XL2411Z,
Nixeus NX-VUE24A,
Viewsonic XG2401,
ASUS VG248QE,

IPS: Dell U2415,
Dell U2412M,
ASUS VS24AH-P,
Dell U2515H,
Acer G257HU.

I play a wide variety of games, from LoL to Battlefield to Civ 6. This is my first build so I don't really have anything to compare to, not to mention you can't test games on the monitors in the stores. I'm pretty set on getting both a TN and an IPS to compare and then choosing which one I prefer. If you guys had to pick one from each category (or just one overall), what would you pick?

I can tell you right now that IPS is the new standard, and is what you will end up with.

After that i go with whatever panel is cheapest that offers proper refresh rates.

These companies don't manufacture panels, and in all reality, the actual panels in these monitors could literally be the same. I vote whatever is cheapest at time of purchase in the IPS category.

Do you think the extra $80 is worth going from the Dell U2414 with 1920 x 1200 to the Dell U2515H with 2560 x 1440?

you want the 1440p nothing else unless it is 4k but honestly i would still get the 1440p cause it will be the fastest reaction time and also tailored to the most games now and in the future.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from Colin_25 : "Comparing monitors side by side?"

I am having trouble between choosing 144hz or 1440p, so I want to go and buy a TN and an IPS monitor to test them when I build my computer. I imagine that I would be able to hook up both to my GPU at the same time, and have the same image/video/games project on both monitors. Or would I have to do 1 at a time? What would be the best way to go about doing this?
