So I recently upgraded my graphics card and PSU to a RTX 2060 SUPER and 750watt. I am now looking to upgrade my cpu and motherboard because I believe it is bottle necking my GPU some. My current CPU is a i7-4770 and I am looking to switch to a ryzen 5 3600X. I was wondering what is some good mother board options to choose from as I am relatively new to building a pc. I have been looking and I don't want to go too expensive but I also don't want something very cheap. I have looked one newegg for a day or so but I am kinda confused at what boards are going to run the CPU well and any features I need to look for.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

With your current CPU in mind, you'd also need to upgrade your RAM from DDR3 to DDR4 when you upgrade the CPU and motherboard

I know that I will also have to upgrade to DDR4 RAM I am just trying to pick out a good CPU/motherboard combo first. I am mainly looking for something that will have good graphics for gaming and occasionally use it for everyday tasks.

I have been looking at this combo just because it looks like a good deal at a pretty cheap price but I don't really know if it is a decent board or not. I know that when I upgrade I probably will want to get an M.2 SSD that will fit into the mother board and just use my 2TB HHD as storage. I will probably get 16GB of DDR4 ram to run on whatever board I get.

Whenever I upgrade I also plan on getting a new case so I will probably need a board that has connectors for a few case fans for ventilation. I also want a board the will be able to handle over clocking the CPU well. Also if anyone thinks there is a better CPU for about the same price I would be open to looking at that.

Thank you so much.

I didn't mean to add unneccessary niose to your thread, but I got the impression when reading your original post, that RAM wasn't something you had planned on already.

Sometimes it is seen that people are focused on the items of biggest concern like motherboard and CPU, and forget about RAM, not because it is ignored, but it can fade into the background a little.

So my only intention was to mention a RAM upgrade in case it would have had a possible impact on your planned budget for a motherboard, for example.

But good to know you have that covered already, it sounds like an excellent upgrade you are planning on

Thank you for helping and I in no way meant to come off as rude if it sounded like it. I really appreciate all the help from everyone on this forum. I am looking at pc parts builder right now and trying to come up with some options.

Also another question I have is, does some board not come with availability to connect to wifi. I have noticed some reviews have said this. If I get one that doesn't will I have to use only a ethernet cable to connect to the internet?

You didn't sound rude at all, I just wanted to explain why I was going a bit off topic. I actually think you are going about this upgrade in a very clever way, learning things that might not be immediately apparent when looking at manufacturer specs only, that is something a lot of people should consider doing instead of rushing a purchase - I should actually learn from this myself. Good luck with the new build

If the motherboard doesn't have wifi on it you will have to connect to the internet with an ethernet cable yes or you could by a wifi card if you need it. You can buy a motherboard with wifi on it if you really want wifi.

So I was looking at pc parts builder and I picked a motherboard and my psu is a cx750. It then gave me this error and would this cause any problems with the motherboard power? Also, can I add a cord anywhere off of my psu to fix this?

The MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC ATX AM4 Motherboard has an additional 4-pin ATX power connector but the Corsair CX (2017) 750 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply does not. This connector is used to supply additional 12V current to the motherboard. While the system will likely still run without it, higher current demands such as extreme overclocking or large video card current draws may require it.
