Choosing Power supply

So I was looking to buy a power supply for system with r9 285.
The cpu is q9650.
When I calculated the total power usage it shows Max load of 350w and recommends psu of 450w or higher.
And I'm stuck between choices
So should I buy Cx450 or Vs 650 from corsair. Almost cost same with vs 650 a little high but not out of reach.
What should I buy?

How is the VS more future proof when it will break down quicker and lessen other components’ lifespans more?

The CX450 is better unless your GPU requires 2 PCIe connectors, the CX450 only has one.

The VS is very low end, not recommended for gaming systems. It is meant as a System Integrator unit.

What Rexper said is true. VS Series is low quality and is not recommended for gaming systems. And the CX450 has only one PCIe connector while an R9 285 requires two.

I would suggest a 500-550W Unit just for a little headroom to overclock the GPU like the Corsair CX550/CX550M/Seasonic G Series Power Supply. These are good quality units.

^ yeah would seem you guys are right.

I swear though that I had a cx450 with twin 8 pins when they first came out.
Dunno if this is to do with there being both a cwt & a great wall unit or just if my memory is deceiving me.

The cxm 450 100% definitely has twin 8 pins which I find odd though, with a single 8 pin & a modern cpu you're never going to pull above 320w from it.
I would have thought they would have squeezed another 6 pin in there at least really as it's easily capable of powering a 225w gpu.
