Hello everyone,

I don't know if this is the correct category to post this one in, but this is my problem:

Both Chrome and MS Edge display the wrong typefont on random websites. When I open them in Firefox, the website is displayed as it should.

I've tried:
  • Clearing the cache / font cache
  • Checking the type font settings in Chrome and MS Edge > all settings are correct
  • Reinstalled Chrome
  • Updated Chrome and MS Edge
  • Reinstalled possible typefonts that could've been corrupted

Alas, nothing seems to work and I'm stuck with websites that are almost unreadable.
There's got to be a fix for this?

This is what the site looks like:

This is what it should look like:

Anyone that can solve the problem?

Thank you very much in advance.

do f12 and look at what font it is using

Thank you very much for the reply.

This is what I see:

In Chrome and Edge the typefont for sans-serif is Arial.
I had used a Chrome extension called Font Changer to change the font to "open sans" so I was able to read the site, but that's of course a quick and temporarily fix.
To be honest, the F12 info doesn't tell me a lot more, other than those six font names.

All my best,
Curt

and you have arial on your system?
try the browser without any extension?
Yes, I have Arial on my system. My first thought was that the Arial font had been corrupted, so I uninstalled it and did a new install of the font.

I also removed all extensions from Chrome, restarted the system... no cigar yet :)

Now while searching for a solution, I found a video on youtube that talked about a site that could easily identify the font used on the site. It's called Fount.
I tested it and it said: Open Sans.

As you can see: it's in the wrong font telling me that is Open Sans...

When I click "view font on Adobe Fonts" I can see the real shape of the font:

I'm not sure if this can be resolved to be honest. Perhaps I just need to use an extension to make the website readable...
