Ok, so I have a new machine that has been working for a couple of months now with no issues. I haven't installed any software or plugins for the last few weeks. This is what has been happening. I use chrome mostly, the only time I even opened IE9.0 was to get chrome installed. I literally opened it one time on this rig. I noticed that a week or so ago I wasn't able to login to some sites that I frequent. I will go to the login screen and then try to login as usual. Some of these sites just kick me back to the login screen after approval or some sites try to load the next screen but just stay blank not displaying anything. Some sites work like normal. Some sites I can't access their online support chat while other work normally (for support chat). I have already been trying for 8 days to find any info on the web to see if there is anything I can do about this. I found a couple of people who have/had the problem but no posts on what can be done to fix the issue. Below is what I have done to try and remedy the issue.

■Scanned for spyware/viruses with several different scanners, came up clean
■Check with the problem sites webmasters to see if they knew something on their end, no dice
■Uninstalled chrome and reinstalled and did not sign back into my account and tried the sites again, no dice
■Disabled/uninstalled all plugins and extensions, nope
■Checked IE 9.0 - has the same problem as chrome (did I mention I never use IE?)
■Downloaded firefox - works like normal with no issues on any of the sites.
■Created new Chrome profile, no dice

Anything would help, I have no idea what to do now. I really don't want to format the drives for this. Thank you!

I have tried to use incognito mode to see of it helps. No avail. I checked my settings and i have set the browser to accept cookies. I also cleared all if the cookies out to ensure that any leftovers don't cause a problem. None of this solved the problem.

I meant to mention that. I am not using a proxy and i checked to see if the setting had been messed with by spyware, etc. Everything looks normal and no proxy is in place.

I am on my personal network and using the local comcast DNS servers. The reason that I don't think that it is the DNS server is because firefox works perfectly on this computer and I have chrome on my laptop and it works fine. The issue is specific to this computer.

SOLVED!!!!
I was FINALLY able to solve this on my Win 7 64 bit. I couldn't connect to any SSL sites, like https://store.apple.com. I tried reinstalling, uninstalling, nuking all preferences, user folders, registry entries, nothing.

What I found worked was to go to my Windows Firewall, then chosing "Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall". I had already authorized Google Chrome, but at the top of the list I saw four entries for "BranchCache". It's a MS feature that my office is using, and apparently doesn't play well with chrome. When I allowed all 4 BranchCache entries access to Domain, Home/Work & Public, Chrome started working again for me.

May not help you, but it's what made my Chrome start working again.

I've got almost the exact same problem. Almost any site that has a button that opens in a pop up window will not work correctly and even some of Google's own sites such as the rich snippet testing tool and some adwords pages aren't functioning correctly either. I've gone through almost exactly the same steps as you've done but to no avail either. I had a look in the Windows Firewall settings and I don't have any BranchCache entries :(

Anyone have a similar issue and resolved it by another method?

Everything works fine in Firefox but I hate it
