New HP Obelisk on the way. Due to available funds, I could only order one stick of HyperX 8GB 2666 memory. I believe the memory is made by Kingston. The HP CL spec for the stick is 15. Kingston lists theirs at 16. Would different CL specs present an operational problem?

No, not an operational problem. The lower the rated CL timing, the better performing memory it is. You may try to overclock your RAM at a better CL timing from the motherboard's UEFI/BIOS.
However, there is a disadvantage here. One stick of RAM means that you will be operating in single channel mode. Consider adding a second identical RAM module.

In addition, even if you order the exact same memory module, there's a chance that the 2 sticks will be different enough to not work properly in dual-channel mode.

It's always recommended to get the total amount of memory you want to use in a single kit, to guarantee compatibility.
