Trying to do a clean install of windows 11 and running into problems.

my system is:
Msi z690 tomahawk
Intel i7 12700k
Ripjaw v 16gb 3600
3080 ti aorus master
Wd black sn850
Straight power 11 1000w

I’ve downloaded the installation media onto my usb and have entered the bios
Set boot priority to usb
enabled secure boot
Enabled UEFI
And when I go to boot from usb it simply loads the motherboard screen and an infinite spinning wheel of dots

I’ve also tried with PTT enabled and it come up with
“device ran into problem, system thread exception not handled “

Should I attempt to install windows 10 instead and then update to windows 11???

MSI Z690 have a special BIOS USB port labeled "Flash BIOS". I havent done it but apparently you copy the bios file to the usb and press the "Flash BIOS Button"

Page 49 of your manual.....
Updating BIOS with Flash BIOS Button
1. Please download the latest BIOS file that matches your motherboard model from
the MSI® website.
2. Rename the BIOS file to MSI.ROM, and save it to the root of the USB storage
device.
3. Connect the power supply to CPU_PWR1 and ATX_PWR1. (No need to install CPU
and memory.)
4. Plug the USB storage device that contains the MSI.ROM file into the Flash BIOS
Port on the rear I/O panel.
  1. Press the Flash BIOS Button to flash BIOS, and the LED starts flashing.
  2. The LED will be turned off when the process is...

Yes, page 49 but is the required bios update installed on the usb they supplied?? And how do I tell if it is

Well, you should boot into the BIOS and see what version is installed on your motherboard, then check the website to see if a revision is available, download it and copy to the USB stick (I never got one with my Z690 !)
Technically, you dont need to update the BIOS if you have a stable system and whatever BIOS revision you have should not affect the Windows 11 Install, (as far as I know).

Its possible that the Windows 11 install USB stick failed to get written properly from the Microsoft DL creation. Maybe try to create the USB install again.

Failing that, yes try the win 10 install and if successful, upgrade to win 11.
Good luck, hope it workes out.
