Clean reinstall of Windows 10

I couldn't find any answers on the internet. I was wondering if you are doing a clean reinstall of Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 7, do you need to update Windows 7 completely before I do a Windows 10 upgrade? It would be nice if you didn't have to bother with the Windows 7 updates and just upgrade Windows 10 immediately like you do for a Windows 7 Service pack but I suspect it isn't that easy. Thanks for any advice.

I just did a win 7 pro laptop, just installed network card driver to see the internet. No updates, but Windows 7 has to be activated prior to upgrade.

Put the windows 10 disc in and did the upgrade. Worked absolutely fine.

Had to finish with installing proper drivers for windows 10.

If you have a win10 key (which should have come with the upgrade, I think) then just get the installer ISO file from microsoft and install win10 directly.
