Hello, I recently opened and cleaned my laptop, put it back together and it turns on fine and everything, but now it won't charge and I'm running on the rest of my battery. Also, I did a full reinstallation of Windows 10 since it was at a never ending cycle of "Repairing" and "Diagnosing", ever since I reinstalled and cleaned, it doesn't work. Any ideas?

Solution

wont charge means a missing cable at most or a broken plug .. you will need to open it again and check all the wires and plugs and make sure all are connected right.

which notebook is it ? and how did you clean it ? did you tear it down and took the motherboard out ? or just simple clean without removing parts?

2012 samsung notebook np355e. I mainly unplugged the keyboard, took that off, then the top plastic paneling, and the the power button cable, also, I tried taking out another cable (4 wires, red, blue, 2xblack) and tore the left two out of the connector( these wires go to the left speaker). After that, I took a small light brush and dusted the inside, after that I put everything back in and started the computer, only 45 later to find it's not charging.

Ok, so I found that there's a black cable coming from the AC power (area to plug in to charge), that's connected under a screw onto the LED pivoting bar with looks like it grounds any electricity coming in, is that the problem?

Hello, if you're still on this thread, I found out that the little black wire that goes under a screw is part of a DC power cable, which has ripped off.

how ripped off ? can you post a pic ?

Honestly, I have no idea how to post pictures. I provided a link below that with a picture of my DC cable. The little silver circle in the middle with the black wire connected, that is what ripped from each other. can I solder them together however I want? Thank you. you can solder them back if you know how to do it. or just buy new cable if you dont know how . you can look for parts in ebay.

I have an idea how to solder them together, but besides trying to manually fix it, or buying a new one, the real question is whether this is the main problem still. It looks like it was wrapped around the screen's pivots, which ripped the wire apart, but besides that, I'm not sure.

well try it and see .. if it does not work after that , then look for other cables / broken things .. but i think you found the problem.
