So recently I picked up a Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition, https://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001788

It's obviously a very nice case, and they apparently partnered with BMW to create it, and right now it's around 300 dollars on Ebay, while I got mine for 38 dollars.

But of course there was a catch, the owner was a heavy smoker and it reeked, but I was never informed of it...
I've used the front panel as a testbed for different cleaning materials, so far I've tried vinegar, generic cleaning and Ajax universal clean, the panel definently looks nicer, but the smell of cigarettes remains;

So how would you guys go about fixing smoker cases? that is if they are even salvagable.

Solution

Rubbing Alcohol is fine.

Use paper towels and get a spray bottle. :)

Clean until the paper towels come out white, that means all the Nicotine is gone, alcohol removes it better than anything else.
to get the smell out id recommend just packing the thing with dryer sheets. my mother smokes, so when i bring things from her place they always smell. i put them in a bag with dryer sheets and leave it for a few days.

Clean it with Alcohol, the whole case, that will get rid it.

Works better than anything.

Is there any specific percentage of alcohol you would go for, or should I just get whatever is near me?
Also how would case electronics react to the alcohol? ie fans, usb and such.
