Question Cleaning up cpu to add new thermal paste and aio dont have any rubbing alcohol is this good enough? Will the small spill over do any damage

Take a paper towel and rub that thing some. Paste is generally not conductive, but getting it into a socket isn't really a recommended thing to do.

Probably not a bad idea to run to the store....

Standard idea on a 10400 would be one dot in the middle; somewhere between the size of a BB and a common green pea.

Just clean it with a piece of paper towel.

Do not take cpu out of the socket. You'll probably damage pins in cpu socket.

already put the cpu back in after cleaning it better would rather not take it out again

Use a cotton bud to remove the last traces of thermal paste from around the edge of the CPU and on the mounting frame (for aesthetic reasons only).

Next time use a dot as described by Lafong, not a teaspoonful.

The blob below looks OK. You don't want it oozing out over the edge.
