ClearTypifying Windows 2000?

I have had the joy (and the very harsh discomfort) of using both Windows 2000 and Windows XP Professional. I will not go into detail about my feelings on the latter of the two OS's, but I do want to ask, is there any way to get ClearType on a non XP system?

I've heard (but not tried) that if a Windows 2000 machine goes to <A HREF="http://microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/cleartypeactivate.htm" target="_new">http://microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/cleartypeactivate.htm</A>, it's possible to turn on a sort of "fake" ClearType for Windows 2000. Can anyone verify this? My Windows 2000 system currently has no internet access.

What in the hell is ClearType??? This has nothing agianst fierydoggie, just a question

Clear type is for LCD to display characters clearly.
