Question Clicking LMB awywhere on desktop highlights the file (expected behaviour would be that the file doesn't get highlighted) ?

I probably did some kind of combination on keyboard that caused this.

Try a different mouse out see if it does the same thing.

Here is maybe another soloution:

Go in to your control panel then select mouse settings>uncheck the "ClickLock" box>go to pointers tab make sure it is set to "Normal Select".

That should hopefully sort it for you
