Question Clicking noise top left of Macbook Air when opened

MacBook Air, I think 2014 model. Upon opening, it makes a sort of clicking noise in the upper left corner of the base of laptop (like by the esc key). It seems to only happen after it's been asleep for a while, if it's just been a couple minutes I don't think the noise happens. Sounds like hardware, not an electronic noise, but a little tough to distinguish. Any thoughts? Thanks everyone for your help.
