I just bought an Asus A7V today (rev 1.02, BIOS 1004D) and an Athlon 900

It keeps crashing so I used SiSoft Sandra to have a quick look at all the settings.

I have the FSB set at 100MHz, which should (as I understand it) result in an AGP bus speed of 66MHz (FSB times 2/3) and a PCI bus speed of 33 MHZ (FSB times 1/3).

However, Sandra reports the AGP bus is running at 100MHz and the PCI bus at 50MHz which probably explains why things are crashing.

I can't find a way to change the multipliers.

Has anybody else seen anyhting like this?
Have I missed something completely or does this board just have the wrong multipliers on it?

I just bought a7v too. But I would like to know how you set the jumperFree Mode, all DSW1-DSW4 and DSFID1-6.
Also I quite don't understand what in the manual book said about the dip switch. If i want to set the dip switch to be "off" where the "white cap(little white plastic on the DSW)" is should be at. Is the white cap should be away from the word "on" (If i want to set DSW "off")
I need your answer.
thanks

I believe all the dip switches need to be toggled off to enable jumperless (BIOS) mediation. You'll find AGP/PCI multipliers in 'advanced chipset' section of CMOS utiltity.

I just ordered the same mobo/processor today. I have not gotten it yet, but I have been reading up on both. From what I hear you flip the white switch away from the "on." If I remember correctly this will be toward the processor. Hope this helps, I am sure I will need some help when my stuff arrives.

Yes, the manual contradicts itself. The actual dip switches are labeled correctly - just go according to those. On my MB I switch them all in the direction of the ATX power connector to set them to off

There is no way to change the multiplier in the Advanced - Chips menu (or any other menu I can find) in my BIOS (version 1004D). Does anyone have such an option in an A7V BIOS? I will try d/lding a diff BIOS when I get a chance.

I've never seen that board, but for all interested there's a brief FAQ on Asus' site that has a few things about the A7V...including the correct jumper settings.
