I have a startech duplicator. My HDD is 2tb but only has 378gb of data. My SSD is a 500gb Samsung Evo. For some reason the duplicator is saying that the target drive (SSD) doesn't have enough space.

I know i can do this bc i've cloned this drive to a 500gb SSD before.

What am i doing wrong?

Thanks

Shrink data partition of your 2TB drive below size of SSD (465GB). This may require defragmentation your HDD first.
Duplicator uses sector to sector copy. This means, if some sector is ocupied after 465GB limit mark, it can not be copied to your SSD.

Ok... i'm defragging now. Will that alone accomplish the task of shrinking the partition down? or will i need to do something else after?

Thanks
