Two screens are a Samsung bigscreen flat tv which i want to view in high resolution (1920×something), connected by hdmi. The other screen is a small one built in a computer chassis (Origenae x15e), that is not capable of showing picture in more than 1024×700something, but i need it on. Connected by dvi ==> vga cable. The graphics card is gtx1070.

I want to clone these screens but it's tricky. When i clone them in the lower resolution that the smaller screen can handle (and i wouldn't mind having it that way for a while), the colours on the big screen get all weird. Cloning in the higher resolution obviously doesn't work cos the smaller one freezes. And i can't seem to find the way to clone them in different resolutions, which would basically be the best option. Is this really an unsolvable problem?

I believe the issue is simply the fact you're trying to "clone" which, by very nature means identical.
The lower resolution should work on the higher resolution monitor (albeit not ideal), but not vice-versa.

Is there a reason you cannot configure them as independent displays? There may well be ... I'm just thinking if you only *needed* to see temp monitoring on the small display, then have it as a secondary display with only HWMonitor (or similar) on it?

You're right, cloning should imply the same resolution as well, and i understand that. Just thought there perhaps was a way to do it anyway.

I use the Speedfan, but that is not the issue. I want to sometimes be able to do simple operations (like choose the Music to listen to) just by using the small screen (which is a touchscreen, actually) and without having to turn on the bigscreen. If i have them as indipendent displays, which i have to do now, i don't get the same picture on both (obviously). Then i have to have the small screen as the primary, and when i have the big screen on, i have to mess with moving things to the big screen from the small one the whole time. If i setup the big screen as the primary, then i don't get the menus i need on the small screen from the startup.

If i have them both on the lower resolution, then the colours on the big screen get all messed up for some reason, and can't seem to be adjusted properly.

Well the size and ratio of the picture on the flatscreen are ok, it's only the colours that went amok, and can't really be adjusted so that it looks natural... Now i left it that way for the time being, but i'm beginning to believe this one cannot be solved...
